Privacy policy
Last updated 14 October 2026
Frerer is run by Ecoecho Pty Ltd (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.
Who this covers
- Businesses that use Frerer to run a refer-a-friend program, and their staff.
- Customers of those businesses who get a referral link, and the friends they refer.
When you use a business’s referral page, that business decides what it asks for and how it uses your details. We store and handle those details for the business. The business’s own privacy policy is linked at the bottom of its pages.
What we collect
- Business staff: name and email address, used to sign in. Sign-in is provided by Clerk.
- Customers who sign up for a referral link: first and last name, email, mobile number, and when you agreed to get emails.
- Friends who get in touch: what you type into the business’s form (for example first name, mobile and postcode). If you call the business’s referral phone number, the call details (your number, the time and how long the call was), provided by CallRail.
- How the pages are used: for example when a referral page is opened or a share, call or review button is tapped. We keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address for a short time to stop spam. We don’t use advertising trackers.
- Emails: a record of the emails we send for a business, and whether they were delivered.
Why we use it
- To run a business’s referral program: give out links, record referrals, and show the business who sent each new job.
- To send emails about referrals, such as your link, “your friend got in touch” and “your gift card is on its way”.
- To pass referral details to the business’s own systems, such as its customer list (CRM), when the business sets that up.
- To keep Frerer secure, stop misuse, fix problems and give support.
We don’t sell personal information. We don’t send marketing emails to customers or friends of the businesses we work with.
Who we share it with
- The business whose referral program you used.
- Companies that help us run Frerer: Vercel (website hosting), Neon (database, stored in Sydney), Clerk (staff sign-in), Resend (email), and, if the business uses them, CallRail (call tracking) and the business’s own CRM.
- Anyone we must share it with by law.
Some of these companies are based in, or process information in, other countries, including the United States. We choose providers that protect information to a high standard.
Emails and unsubscribing
Customers can stop referral update emails at any time with the “Unsubscribe” link in any email. Emails you ask for, such as your own link, will still be sent.
How long we keep it
We keep referral details while the business uses Frerer, so it can track referrals and thank-you gift cards. When a business closes its account, or asks us to, we delete its data unless the law says we must keep it.
Keeping it safe
Information is sent over secure connections and stored with providers that use strong security. Personal pages use long, private links, and staff must sign in to see referral details.
Seeing or fixing your information
You can ask to see or correct your personal information. For referral details, you can ask the business directly, or email us at george@frerer.com and we’ll help.
Cookies
We only use cookies to keep business staff signed in. Customer and friend pages don’t use tracking or advertising cookies.
Questions or complaints
Email george@frerer.com. We’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
